Evelyn Mae Parks, 87, of Greencastle, PA and formerly of Beltsville, MD, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2019 surrounded by family after a brief illness.
Born May 25, 1932 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of John Gustave and Lunette Elizabeth Hornig.
While residing in Beltsville, Evelyn devoted time to the Beltsville Majorette Core as seamstress, creating uniforms for several years. She was an avid member of the Beltsville Bowling League. Christmas was one of her favorite holidays and she was a huge country music fan.
She was the loving wife of Clarence Woodrow Parks, Sr. for over 64 years.
Evelyn is survived by sons, Randle E. Parks and wife Norma, C. Woodrow Parks, Jr. and wife Cheryl, and daughter Patricia Tharp and husband Henry Sr. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, 4 sisters Shirley Farquhar, Joyce McDonald, Mary Lou Schwier, Joann Hawkins and brother Stanley Hornig, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Woody, Sr., infant son Thomas and daughter Evelyn “Sissy” M. Wignall, brothers Richard Davies and Donald Hornig and sister Lois Bailey.
A viewing will be held at J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, MD, Wednesday, December 11th, 6:00 – 8:00pm with internment Thursday, December 12th at 10:00am, Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
A Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a later date.
