Freddie Lee (Cookie) Pryor, 82, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA passed away Tuesday, January 4th
at Waynesboro Hospital. Born January 23, 1939, in Highfield, MD. He was the son of the late
Clarence and Carrie (Wolfe) Pryor of Highfield, MD. He graduated from high school and went to
work at the shoe factory in Gettysburg. At age 21 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.serving in both the Cuban Crisis and the Vietnam War. After 4 years of service, he received an
honorable discharge. He began a career as a Contract Painter, then went to work at ISP Mineral
(Grit Mill) where he was a batch man and later retired at the age 71.
He was a lifetime member of the Cascade American Legion Post 239. He enjoyed many things
throughout his life: listening to Country Music, attending Cruise-in week at Ocean City, Md,
spending time with his grandchildren, car shows with his friends, watching Westerns on TV,
going out to dinner, and weekend road trips with his wife in their convertible car.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, Stepchildren, Teresa (Erik) Rowland of Waynesboro, PA,
Steven (Jess Martz) Garde of Waynesboro, PA; Grandchildren Zayden, Adalyn, Caroline and
Cooper; Two nieces Rebecca Gordon of Oklahoma and Pamela Shaner of York, PA; Nephew
Dennis Coy Prichard of Kentucky; Along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and
great nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Erma (Alexander) Pryor; Two brothers
Clarence (Junie) Jr. and Ernst (Pete) Pryor; and his beloved sister, Anna Prichard.
Services will be held Monday, January 10, 2022, at 2pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Rev. Charles Mackley officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Cascade, MD.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
