GLORIA JEAN MOATS

Gloria J. Moats, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10, 2025. She will be missed by her husband of 64 years, John F. Moats.

She was born on June 28, 1940, in Sutton, West Virginia to the late Clarence and Margaret McCollum.

She was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School. Gloria was a supervisor in medical transcription for Dr. Newby at the Washington County Hospital. She retired in 2006 after 40 years of employment.

Gloria was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Williamsport. Gloria and her family were avid bowlers. She held the house record at Dual Lanes for lady’s tenpin for many years. Gloria went to see Ronnie McDowell with her family any chance she could. She loved to crochet, quilt, cross-stitch and spend time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Johnny, Gloria is survived by her best friend, her daughter, Shelly McKee and husband, Tommy; nieces and nephews; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Daryl Moats; and infant siblings.

A Celebration of Life will be held in June and will be announced later.

Arrangements have been entrusted to J.L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.
