Gene Allen Franklin

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gene Allen Franklin of Jefferson, MD, on Friday, April 10, 2026. Gene was born on February 26, 1941 in Kingsport, TN to the late Winzel and Ora Franklin.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965. He met his loving wife of over 60 years, Nelle (Hudson), during this period at Calloway Gardens in Georgia.

Gene was an auctioneer and a Life Member of the Frederick County Auctioneers Association. In his career, he worked with Fogle Auction Gallery and Willowdale Auction Company. He enjoyed attending auctions and mentoring upcoming auctioneers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son in law, Holley and Wayne Leatherman; Daughter Kim Beavers, Son, Mark Beavers; Grandson and Granddaughter in law, Jonathan and Audreyona Leatherman. He is also survived by his sister in law, Alethea Rogers and her daughters, son, and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Edens (Ralph), Grandson, Ryan Beavers; and Brother in Law, Fred Rogers.

Per Gene's wishes, services will be private.
