Glenn “Buster” Collins Sr, 78, of Smithsburg, MD passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, Saturday July 4th, 2026.
Born on November 8, 1947, in Smithsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Charlotte (Law) Collins and William H. Collins. He was a welder and worked for the same company his entire career.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert (Bobby) Collins and Roger Collins and his newborn son, Glenn Collins Jr.
In his younger years Glenn would bring home vintage cars from the junkyard and restore them to their original beauty. Glenn also enjoyed fishing, listening to country music and antique tractors. He owned several antique Farmall tractors which he proudly rode in the local Smithsburg parade, and displayed during the annual Smithsburg Steam and Craft show. He was a supporter of the Smithsburg Tractor Society and enjoyed the camaraderie of many other tractor enthusiasts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol Collins; Daughter, Michelle Collins (Dreama); Granddaughter, Meghan O’Neill (Ray); Grandson, Liam O’Neill, Sisters Evelyn Hovis (Kenny) and Linda Hunter; Brother, William (Billy) Collins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His family and friends will remember him for his sense of humor, easy smile, and the many unforgettable memories he created.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, July 13, 2026, at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave. Smithsburg, MD 21783.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, at Ringgold Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD with Pastor Gary Zook officiating.
