Harriet Ann (DeGrange) Pryor

Harriet Ann (DeGrange) Pryor, 87, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Seaton Hagerstown, surrounded by loving family.

Born on February 29, 1936 in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lenzie (Clem) and Guy C. DeGrange.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Donald Stanley Pryor; and Sister, Doris Bierley.

Harriet graduated from Frederick High School, class of 1954.

She continued her education at Washington County Hospital School of Nursing, finishing in 1957. She went back to school later on in life, obtaining a Bachelors of Arts degree from Mount St. Mary's University in 1979.

Harriet worked as a Registered Nurse at Washington County Hospital until her retirement in 2003, after 30 plus years of nursing and being awarded the Presidents Award for Excellence.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Funkstown.

In her younger days, she enjoyed shopping, dancing and roller skating, which is where she met her late husband. Harriet stayed active, spending a lot of time working out at the gym and going for long walks. She also enjoyed speed reading, and spending time with her loving family.

She is survived by her Daughter, Donna Witmer and husband Shawn of Waynesboro, PA; Mark Pryor and companion, Cathy Godfrey of Smithsburg; and Laura Frizzell and husband Steve of Boonsboro, MD; Grandchildren, Chad Grove (Ashley), Neal Grove (Ashley), Nathan Pryor, Jacob Pryor, Brandie Kline (Christopher Schnur), and Derek Kline; Step Grandchildren, Amber Bugs (Andy) and Shawn Witmer (Katie); Great Grandchildren, Makenna Grove, Garrett Grove and Kaelyn Kline; Step Great Grandchildren, Rylan Young, Benson Middleton, Marissa Schnur, Katelyn Logan and Hailey Logan.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 2 PM at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg with Pastor Philip Brumback officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery, Wolfsville.

Family will receive friends one hour prior.
