Harry Davis Obituary

H. Frank Davis passed away on May 10, 2026, at MedStar Washington Hospital following a five-year period of advancing heart failure. The family was able to be with him throughout his final day.

Frank was a friend to all he met. His kind soul and caring spirit allowed him to leave a positive impact on so many. He exemplified living a life in service of others.

Frank spent his childhood in Waynesboro, Pa where he was active in little league baseball and scouts. During high school he was a varsity member of the Waynesboro High School football team and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. After high school he attended and graduated from the University of Pittsburg at Johnstown. Frank began his career working with deaf and hearing-impaired individuals at the Maryland School for the Deaf at both the Columbia and Frederick campuses. Later he managed group homes for Jewish Foundation for Group Homes in Montgomery County Md.

Frank had many interests. He loved the trill of whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River during college years and became a guide on the waters of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers in Harpers Ferry. He enjoyed hunting and had a deep love of fly fishing even traveling to fish in the pristine waters of Montana. He was an active member of the Patuxents through which he regularly participated in French and Indian War reenactments. After retirement, he followed his love of music and guitar playing regularly performing in Harper’s Ferry, Frederick, Waynesboro, and Gettysburg. His talent, fun-loving spirit and outgoing personality were evident while playing for many years in the duo Frank and Bob and more recently in Reckless Mo and the Backseat Drivers.

Frank was preceded in death by his soulmate and loving wife Keri Lawler Davis, his parents Anne Zook Davis and Harry Albert Davis, his sister Karen Sue Davis and his uncle Wib Zook who was very influential in his life. Frank is survived by his sister Nancy Davis Smith Fowler (Joel Fowler), his nieces Kristin Smith Friedman (Brad Friedman), Angela Smith Darrenkamp (Bill Darrenkamp) and Megan Smith Grable (John Grable), sister-in-law and brother-in-law Peggy and Michael Lawler, four great nephews and two great nieces, as well as four close family cousins.

A service will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church (31 East Church Street, Frederick, Md – parking is available in local parking decks). Time for fellowship and a luncheon will follow the service. A celebration of life will be held on a date TBD later in June.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lab Rescue LCRP (Lab Rescue LRCP | Support the Rescue) - the organization that gave him he loyal companion Willy, or Backpack Ministry at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick (Evangelical Lutheran Church | Give Online) - which interested him because it provides weekend food to students in need in Frederick County.
