Helen Virginia (Hawbaker) Troxell

Helen Virginia Troxell, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Doey's House, Hagerstown, surrounded by loving family.

Born in Clear Spring, MD, she was the daughter of the late Reba Virginia (Farrow) and John William Hawbaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Troxell; a Great Nephew and a Great Great Nephew.

Helen graduated from Hagerstown High School.

Helen worked for C&P Telephone/Verizon and retired after 39 years of service.

Helen was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Funkstown. She was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary, Post 211 Funkstown. Helen also belonged to the Potomac Fish and Game Club and the Telephone Pioneers.

She enjoyed and mastered cooking, knitting, and sewing. She also was an avid golfer and traveler.

She is survived by her lifetime partner of 39 years, Kenneth L. Showe; Sister, Nellie Marie Shue; Brother, John William Hawbaker (Kimberly); 15 Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, Great Great Nieces and Nephews, Great Great Great Nieces and Nephews; and numerous close friends.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
