Howard Alex Alexander, 86, of Smithsburg, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Martinsburg VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Born on January 6, 1940, in Mountain Lake Park, Maryland. He was the son of the late George and Grace Alexander. He was proceeded in death by his son Nick Alexander.
Surviving is his wife Barbara Alexander; daughter Natalie Lynn Owens; son Sean Alexander and wife Tammy, granddaughter Brittany Snoots, grandsons Patrick Wivell and wife Trisha, great grandkids Tommy and kenna; grandson Kyle Wivell and wife Taryn, great grandkids Beau and McKennzie; cousins and siblings.
After 21 years of service in the United States Navy, Howard retired from Camp David located in Catoctin Mountain Park in Frederick County Maryland. He also worked in sales and retired at the age of 76.
Howard enjoyed life, going to church and worshiping God, watching Nascar (Davey Allison), football (Tom Brady), his favorite shows such as Gunsmoke, Sanford & Son, and Fox 5; going out to eat (Texas Roadhouse), feeding his birds, enjoyed listing to Merle Haggard, spending time at their camp in Riverbend, Falling Waters West Virginia, telling jokes; on Thanksgiving he loved carving the turkey, but most of all spending time with his family and friends talking and eating together.
A memorial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
