James "Jim" L. Bowyer, 68, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born November 21, 1955, he was the son of the late Earnest and Gloria Bowyer.
Jim graduated from Wilmington High School, Class of 1974.
He enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1974 till 1977. He was a Vietnam era Veteran.
Jim held several engineering and management positions throughout his 40-year career.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Janice Bowyer, and niece Danielle Bowyer.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen, sons, Shawn (Wendy) and Jason (Christina), brothers, Richard and David (Pam), brother-in-law, Paul Spangler (Darlene), sister-in-law, Barbara Webb (Dannie), four grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Ian, and Layne, nieces, Laura Clem (Steve), Andrea Haugh (Brad), Jayne Zampelli (Rick), Sherrie Tidwell (Rob), Elizabeth Bowyer, Whitney Spangler, step-mother, Mary Bowyer of Lewisburg, WV, step-siblings, Robert, Angie, Sharon, Junior, and Ricky, all of Lewisburg, WV.
Honoring Jim's request, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors or Tunnel to Towers.
