JOHN CALVIN BALL

We are saddened to announce the death of John Calvin Ball, age 69, born February 11, 1955, in Buncombe County, North Carolina. He passed away on October 14, 2024, resides in Gettysburg, PA. John served in the U.S. Navy as a field medic in Vietnam and 20 plus years as a sheriff’s deputy in Buncombe County, NC, and later in life as a pilot car escort for Home Run, Inc.

John Ball was preceded by his parents, Willis and Inez Ball, sisters, Billie Gowan, Doris McCiuston and Betty Sharp all of Asheville, North Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary Donna Jett Ball of Gettysburg, PA. His children, Michelle Gilliland (Mike) of Piedmont, SC, Norman Varner of Forrest City, AK, Rebecca Reed (Brian) of Canton, NC, and Deidra Baldwin of Campobello, SC. His grandchildren, Lauren (Josh), Eli, Scotty, Will, Abi, Liz, Gus, Elijah Luke, Sean, Lexi, Jenna, and Addy and a great grandchild, Ezekiel. Nieces Diane, Selina, and nephew Dickie.
