Jacob Calvin Cline (82) passed away on June 19, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Catherine L. Sprecher (Webb) Cline. They shared 55 years of marriage together. Born in Smithsburg MD on September 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Hubert Cline and Bessie E. (Webb) Cline. He was a 1957 graduate of Smithsburg High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. He was employed at Hagerstown Paint & Glass Co. from January 5, 1968 until his retirement in 2006. He was a quiet, stoic man that showed his love for his family through his selfless actions rather than words. His face and hands reflected years of hard work and physical labor, from a young boy on the family farm until his eventual retirement. As life slowed down he enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow from the comfort of his favorite spot on the couch with westerns on the tv and a fresh word search in hand. After so many years providing and caring for his family without complaint, he stayed strong until the end and may now take a much deserved and well earned rest. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Cathy Hawse (Kevin) of Gerrardstown WV and Melissa Kimble (Jimmy) of Williamsport MD. He is also survived by one son, Robert Webb (Terri) of Smithsburg MD, as well as 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Sally A. Cline, Mary V. Cline, and Myrtle E. Lapole. Family and friends are welcomed to a graveside service scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, June 27 at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Smithsburg MD. Flowers and condolences may be offered at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg MD
