Harold Eckstine, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 25, 2024. Born July 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Roy A. Eckstine and Blanche (Wolfinger) Eckstine. Born and raised in Washington county, Harold spent over 70 years working many jobs including Chewsville elevator, Carpets inc., North American Housing, Machen Music and Music and Arts, retiring at 85 years old. Harold also had an unmatched passion for music. He played his trombone in various groups whenever he could, including The Wayne Band, Hagerstown Civic Band, and various small ensembles and orchestras. Harold was a member of the first Christian Church Hagerstown, Maryland, and song tenor on the choir for many years.
Harold also enjoyed farming and was very proud of his Massey Harris that he restored from parts in Apple crates.
Harold leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Miriam (Kline) Eckstine, his son and daughter in law Nelson and Kathy Eckstine, daughter Mary Emswiler, grandsons Chris Eckstine John Emswiler and Andrew Emswiler, and great grandchildren Emma and Sophia Eckstine.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Eckstine
Viewing will be private for family.
Graveside service will be at Welty’s Church of the brethren on Tuesday July 30 at 11am. Memorial service and lunch will follow. Donations and condolences can be made out to the family.
