John Murphy Obituary

John Patrick Murphy (Jack) passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 5, 2023, with his dear sister Pam by his side.

Our brilliant, beautiful, big brother leaves behind four sisters -

Pam Redfern of New Market, MD, Susan Brault of Medford, OR, Erin Brault of Bowie, MD, and Cyndy Brault of Oceanside, CA

A tribe of beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews -

Michael, Mark, Anna, Alex, Danielle, Jake, Brent, Grace, Hunter and Hailey,

And a wealth of dear friends who enriched his life in so many ways.

The oldest of five children, Jack was raised in Cheverly, MD, graduated from Gonzaga, HS, Washington, DC and Fordham University, NYC. He lived most of his life in New York City, residing the last 20+ years in Brooklyn Heights, NY.

His love for family and friends, film and food, music and theater, language and travel filled his life with an abundance of treasured moments. He spent this last year in the loving care of his sisters and the caring staff of Somerford in Frederick, MD.

Jack will be greatly missed by all. A private celebration of his life will be held in Brooklyn, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to:
