Joseph R. McIntyre Jr., 78 of Foxville, MD, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Joe's life was defined by hard work, deep faith and unwavering love for those closest to him.
Born October 9, 1946, to the late Joseph and Betty McIntyre, Joe spent his entire life working the land he loved as a proud farmer. Joe graduated from Middletown High School Class of 1966. He was a member of the Emmanual Chapel. He was also a lifetime member of the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, the Blue Ridge Sportsman Club and the Williamsport Redman's Club. Joe loved the time he worked at Mack Truck as an employee and then later as an independent contractor. He was also employed at Fairchild, The Frederick News-Post and Musket Ridge Golf Club.
Joe was married to his beloved wife, Laureda for 59 years. Together they built a beautiful life and home, raising three children, Tina (Ritchie), Joey, and Lesley (Bob). He was the proud grandfather of Cody (Holly), Kayla (Adam), Paige (Kevin), Zach, Grace (Justin), Cassidie, and Carter. He was a cherished great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his later years. Joe loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family, sharing stories, attending events and watching his legacy grow with each generation. He had two brothers Mike (Beth) and Terry (Judy).
Joe was preceded in death by his great grand-children, Sadie and Everett.
A man of simple pleasures, Joe found joy in the everyday things, the satisfaction of a hard day's work, a well-tended field and crops to feed the family, and the laughter of his grandchildren. His quiet strength, gentle wisdom, and deep love will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to send special thanks to Lori and Crystal from Hospice and his sister-in-law Anna Mae. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Frederick County in Joe's memory.
The family will receive family and friends on Monday June 9, 2025, from 6:00-8:00pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg, MD. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 11:00am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home.
His hands may have rested, but his love and impact will live forever. Joseph R. McIntyre Jr.
