Kenneth Merick Huntsberry, 88, of Smithsburg, MD passed away February 3rd, 2024 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown. He was born on May 25, 1935 to the late Verdene and Mildred (Fox) Huntsberry. He spent his childhood in the Pondsville area and attended Smithsburg High School, class of 1953. He was married to love of his life Sarah (Clopper) Huntsberry for 68 years. They married on Sept. 21, 1955.
He was a veteran of the United States AirForce. He worked the majority of his printing career at Hagerstown Bookbinding & Printing Co. He retired in 1997 from Corporate Press in Frederick, MD.
He is survived by his son Kenneth Dale Huntsberry and his partner Sue Haunert and daughter Robin Hollinger. Also survived by his brothers, Harold and Robert (Bobby) Huntsberry and wife Mary. He is preceded in death of his brothers Richard and Thomas, his sister Helen Bitner and his son-in-law Mike Hollinger. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Samantha Hays, Jason Huntsberry and Dustin Hollinger. He also has many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
He had a love for vehicles. In his early years he was involved in automotive work and restoration of antique cars. As he aged, he enjoyed taking rides in his car and stopping by to visit folks. He also loved to trout fish. He spent many of his retirement days sitting along the creeks and catching his trout limit. Then he would deliver fresh trout to his family & friends. He also got much pleasure from watching wildlife. He was content to sit and watch the wildlife from his living room.
He was a good man, hardworking and had a full life. He will be missed by many.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date.
