Kenneth L. Hawbaker, Jr.

Kennth L. Hawbaker, Jr., 79, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020 at his home. Born March 14, 1941 in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Kenneth L. Hawbaker, Sr. and Marion (Mehaffey) Swisher. He retired from the Washington County School Board after 20 years of service. Until his illness he was active in the fire police with Fountaindale Fire Company, Fountaindale, PA and Blue Ridge Fire Company, Blue Ridge Summit, PA for over 20 years. He loved playing softball with his team. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved traveling across America. He enjoyed family gatherings and reminiscing. He is survived by sisters, Connie Cole and Husband, Dorin Cole, Smithsburg, Md., Carolyn Kuhn and Husband, Basil Kuhn, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., Catherine Hawbaker, and Mary Jane Brindle, of Hagerstown, Md., brothers, Leon Townes, Hagerstown, Md and Harry Hawbaker, Smithsburg, Md., Pat Cranes, a special cousin and Godchildren Stacey Ridge, Fairfield, PA, Amy Balinski, Manville, NJ and Travis Phillips, San Diego, Ca. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Roger Seal and William Hawbaker and a sister, Brenda Mellot. There will be no viewing. A private graveside service will be held Friday, April 3, 2020 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Quincy, Pa. with Pastor Virgil Cain officiating. Arrangements were made by J.L.
