Kenneth Walker Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Walker, 74, of Mercersburg, PA, left this Earth and entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, January 22, 2024, after a very long and courageous battle with several serious illnesses.

He was born on May 13, 1949 in Wilmington, DE to Ruth (Wheatley) Walker and Leonard (Odie) Walker who resided in Middletown, DE and where Kenny grew up.

He attended Middletown Elementary, Middle and High Schools, graduating in 1967. He was proud of playing on an undefeated football team throughout his high school years.

He went on to play baseball at Salisbury State College (now Salisbury University) where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education.

Kenny was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play their various sports. He took great pleasure in coaching Little League teams and football at St. James School. Kenny also loved to go fishing and collecting baseball cards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kay (Harner) Walker; Daughter, Kelly Walker and husband, Eric Kennedy; Son, Kasey Walker and wife, Maryellen (Smith) Walker; and Son Korey Walker and significant other, Brandy Davison.

He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Emerson Kennedy, Matthew Gabriel, Halle, Christopher, Alexander, Maxmilian, Rosemarie, Thomas, Charlotte, Benedict and John Walker.

His other survivors include, Sister in law, Patricia Lewis; Brother in law, Howard Harner and wife, Lynn Harner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenny was predeceased by his parents and his older brother, Terry Walker and Brother in law, Terry Lewis.

Kenny would want to thank all his family and friends, especially the Worthington and Ferguson families for enriching his life and always being there for him in his time of need.

The family wishes to thank his many doctors, nurses, aides, and medical personnel who provided care, healing, concern, and compassion over these past 23 years. They especially want to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Complete Care of Hagerstown for their special care and devotion to "one of their favorite patients." Your many kindnesses and dedication will never be forgotten. A special thank you goes out to DaVita Dialysis Center for your continued support, time and expert treatment over his many years requiring dialysis.

A funeral service will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 2 PM at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, MD 21783.

Family will receive friends one hour prior.

Thank you to everyone at J.L. Davis Funeral Home who helped to make this sad and difficult time much easier to bear.
