Kimberly Ann VanMetre, born September 24, 1974 in Washington County, passed away December 13, 2024 at Julia Manor in Hagerstown, MD. Kimberly is survived by her husband, James VanMetre, her two children, Isabel VanMetre and Chase VanMetre, her father Raymond Sprecher, brother Brad Sprecher and his wife Marisa and two kids Makalya and Selena, brother Matthew Sprecher and his children, sister Jeani Dunlap and her husband Bryan and their children, brother Kevin Carbaugh and his wife and children, brother Richard “Dickie” Carbaugh. Kimberly is proceeded in death by her mother Carylon Sprecher, grandmother Emma Jane “Mother” Carbaugh, uncle “Randy” Carbaugh, Uncle Steve Sanders, Brother Jeff Carbaugh and his children. Kimberly graduated from Smithsburg High School in 1992. After high school, Kimberly spent quite a bit of time as a police dispatcher where she met her husband, James VanMetre. She became EMT certified and used her certification at Community Rescue Service. Kimberly spent the last several years of her life volunteering at Community Volunteer Fire Department in Fairply, then Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Department as a social member. Kimberly will be deeply missed by any and all whose life she impacted. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, and sister. Services will be held at Davis’s Funeral Homes, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg, MD, on December 19, 2024. Friends can visit from 11am-1pm. A small service will be held following the viewing at 1pm.
