April 10, 1959 ~ February 20, 2024 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Lori Jean Gudgeon (nee Crouse) joined her Heavenly Father on the evening of Tuesday, February 20th, 2024 at the age of 64. Born in Hagerstown, MD on April 10th, 1959 to Richard M Crouse and Delores (nee Valentine), Lori was a loving wife of 43 years to Lindsey Gudgeon and affectionate mother to Jeremy (Kendra) and Lynnsay (Benjamin Erskine). Lori fought powerfully for 6 years against Ovarian Cancer.

Lori grew up in Hagerstown and then Boonsboro, MD. Attending Boonsboro High (class of 1977), she was Co-Captain of the cheerleading team, engaged in several school clubs, and an active performer in talent show competitions. Joining "Up With People" from 1978-1979, Lori toured through the U.S. and into Mexico and South America showcasing her beautiful singing abilities. Lori married Lindsey in 1980, having met 2 years earlier when requesting his assistance with moving a large(!) piano for her upcoming show. While raising her children, Jeremy and Lynnsay, Lori perfected her gardening and crafting skills, fashioning creative items for sale at local shops and teaching courses at HCC.

An avid camper and outdoor enthusiast, Lori loved time spent outdoors with family - especially later in life with her two grandchildren, Scott and Brieanna Erskine. Creating what was referred to as "Camp NanaPapPap” (an endearing way to optimize time with Scott and Brieanna each year), she planned, hosted, and coveted moments in their company.

Everyone who knew Lori knew her strong faith in God. Through acts of kindness; loving messages; bible studies/small groups; leading and performing songs at church; and everyday interactions; Lori shined her love of God for all the world to see.

Lori is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Carl and Stella Valentine and Richard Sr. and Meda Crouse; and father, Richard M. Crouse. She is survived by her Mother, Delores Huffer (nee Valentine); Dad, Delbert Huffer; Step-mother, Joyce Crouse; Sisters Karen Smith (David), Teresa Shifler, and Kimberly Huffer; loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Details regarding a celebration of life will be shared with friends and family in coming weeks. The family kindly requests that flowers or donations be paused until that time.
