Larry Gene Reeder

Larry Gene Reeder, 84, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Frederick Health Hospital, Frederick, MD, surrounded by loving family.

Born on June 24, 1941 in Garfield, MD, he was the son of the late Pauline L. (Wolfe) Kipe and grandson of the late Mildred (Kuhn) Wolfe and Clifford W. Wolfe.

Larry attended Middletown High School and was employed by Huntsberry Brothers, Callas Contracting and retired from Mack Truck in 2001 as a Millwright. He always had time to help others.

Larry was a member of Garfield United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, MD, and the National Hot Rod Association.

Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and building bigger engines for his race cars that he would race at Mason Dixon Dragway and on York, U.S. 30.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce (Needy) Reeder; Son, Gregory L. Reeder and wife, Linda; Daughter, Lori A. (Reeder) Gunder and husband, Daryl; Grandson, CPO Jacob G. Reeder, U.S. Navy, and wife, Katie; and Brother, Donald C. Kipe, Jr. and wife, Teresa.

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11 AM at Garfield United Methodist Church, 13628 Stottlemyer Rd. Smithsburg, MD 21783 with Pastor Al Deal and Pastor Mary Ricketts officiating. Inurnment will follow in Garfield UMC Cemetery, Smithsburg, MD.
