Loretta Davis Obituary

Loretta “Anne” Davis, 84, of Williamsport, MD, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026.

Anne was born November 16, 1941, in Grove City, PA, daughter of the late Alta E. (Baumgardner) McCalla and William C. McCalla. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1959 and worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Timothy O’Leary in Girard, PA.

In June 1962, she married her next-door neighbor, William “Russell” Davis. They moved to Hagerstown shortly after where Russ began his engineering career at Potomac Edison. They later settled in Williamsport where they have spent nearly sixty years building their life and raising their two sons.

Anne had a lifelong love of gardening and landscaping and each year she carefully tended a backyard garden filled with vegetables and herbs. In the 1970s, she became a founding member of the Heritage Garden Club serving the communities of Van Lear and Tammany in Williamsport and served as its president for several years. She was also active in her church, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, and loved teaching at Sunday School and summer Bible School.

Anne loved being outdoors, especially during summers spent at Brightwaters Swim Club and Beaver Creek Country Club. She also took great joy in planning the family’s annual summer beach vacations. Favorite destinations included Bethany Beach, DE; Wildwood, NJ; the Outer Banks, NC; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Sanibel Island, FL. Her favorite getaway was Historic Williamsburg, VA which she visited multiple times.

Having spent part of her childhood in an orphanage, Anne placed a strong emphasis on building a strong, supportive family, and poured her energy into raising her two sons and being active in their lives and the community. She was a founding member of the Williamsport Middle School PTA and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years.

Later in life, Anne discovered a passion for watercolor painting. She spent many years painting with her art group, taking classes, and traveling to art shows where she proudly displayed her work. One of her favorite traditions was painting a historic home in Hagerstown each year and turning the artwork into the family’s Christmas card.

Anne loved spending time with her family and found great joy in bringing everyone together. She especially cherished hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas at her home, where her warmth, hospitality, and excellent cooking created memories that her family will treasure forever.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four siblings, Betty Hull, Bill McCalla, James McCalla, and Susie Weislogel.

She is survived by her husband Russ Davis; her two sons, Barry Davis (Andra) of Chester, MD and Christopher Davis (Mary) of Martinsburg, WV; grandchildren, Callie Davis, Ryan Davis, and Ellie Davis; and several nieces and nephews.

Anne will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, devotion to family, and the care she extended to her community and friends. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and the many lives she touched.

She requested no service be held and that her ashes be spread.
