Martha Jeanne Huff, 84, arrived into the arms of the her Heavenly Father she loved so much on May 5, 2024. Born February 22, 1940, Martha grew up in Cascade MD, graduating from Smithsburg High School in 1958. She was the daughter of the late Elwood G. Kendall and Jane Marr Gallion Kendall.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Garry E. Huff; the couple married April 1, 1961, spending 63 years together with a steadfast love that transcended anything life threw their way.
She is also survived by four children, Laura J. Shuck (Steven); Garry “Brian” Huff, (Julie Belle); Craig A. Huff, (Elaine), and Amy J. Wise, (Cory). Five grandchildren, Amanda A. and Timothy J. Brown; Codey A. and Camry A. Huff, and Dylan H. Wise; four great grandchildren, Makayla M. J. Bloyer, Brayden S. Olsen and Elijah A. Brown, and Franklin Livio “Frankie” Huff. And two great-great grandchildren, Sofia and Vittorio “Vitto” Pasquale, with a third due later this year.
Called Jeannie by her family, she is also survived by 3 beloved sisters, Patsy Foreman, Kathryn Starliper, and Judy Arndt along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Nothing made Jeannie happier than to spend time with her children and grandchildren; she especially had a knack for quieting fussy grandbabies. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters and their families, especially the monthly sister’s dinner out of recent years.
A life-long member of Germantown Church of God, Martha quietly served her Lord by singing in the choir; as a deaconess, participating in the women’s group and serving as its treasurer. She also taught Sunday School for preschool aged children. Quiet and unassuming, Martha had several special friends at Germantown whom she loved dearly. A prayer warrior, Martha could often be found praying fervently for others, especially for her family.
Up until becoming ill, Martha Jeanne diligently attended the local gym at least 4 weekday mornings, creating new friendships that quickly became very important to her.
A viewing will be held at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Avenue, Smithsburg MD on Monday, May 13th, 2024, from 6-8 pm.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 14th at 10 am with interment at Bethel Cemetery in Cascade MD; officiated by Pastor Linda Rosenberry. Seating will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Germantown (Bethel) Church of God, 16924 Raven Rock Road, Cascade MD 21719.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4
