Mary "Rowena" (Baker) Blickenstaff, of Hagerstown, MD, went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2024. Born on October 7, 1940, in Hagerstown, MD, Rowena was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School and later earned an associate degree in accounting from Hagerstown Junior College (HCC). She built her career as an accountant, working for Massey Ford, Waylen Automotive, Keystone Ford, Hoffman Chevrolet, and Buchanan Chevrolet.
Rowena was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Evelyn (Hoffman) Baker, and her beloved son, Gary Robert Blickenstaff. She is survived by her daughter, Dona Lynn Downin (Robert "Speedy") of Leitersburg, MD; her grandson, Jeremy Robert Downin (Sara) of Clermont, FL; and her great-granddaughters, Paige Postalwait-Frankert (Keith) of Clermont, FL, Chanel Cheeseman of Chambersburg, PA, and Penelope Downin of Clermont, FL. She is also survived by her bonus daughter, Linda (Mitchell) Howells of Hagerstown, MD.
Rowena was an avid reader, amassing a treasured library of books on CD. She enjoyed watching cooking shows and crime dramas while knitting, a hobby that filled her life with joy—never seeming to have enough yarn. When not knitting or watching TV, she could often be found shopping for more yarn and sweet treats. She even became well-acquainted with her Amazon delivery driver.
A devout Christian, Rowena was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown, MD. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
A Memorial of Life celebration will be held at a later date.
