Michael Lee “Mike” Price, Sr., age 72, passed away on July 5, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland. Born on July 17, 1952, in Hagerstown, Maryland, Mike was raised in the Smithsburg area and spent most of his life there before residing in nearby Waynesboro.
Mike dedicated nearly five decades of his life to a career at Dutchie, which later became Hadley Farms. From 1970 until his retirement in 2017, he was known as an extremely hard worker and built lasting friendships with many of his colleagues. Among them was his best friend Bill West, with whom he worked with for 40 years—a testament to both his loyalty and the deep bonds he formed throughout his life.
Outside of work, Mike found joy in a wide range of hobbies that reflected his love for the outdoors and creativity. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing, often sharing music with those around him. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and had a particular fondness for mushroom hunting. His talents extended to woodworking and gardening—activities that brought him peace and satisfaction.
Mike’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his children: Michelle Price; Missi Price and her husband David; Mike Price Jr. and stepson Merle Jackson Jr. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Reitta Foley, Joseph Price, Melanie Zellers, and Alyssa Price. His brother Elmer Price Jr. and wife Crystal; brother-in-law Bill Unger; and special companion Suzie Stone also mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Caleb Price Sr. ; mother Ida Pauline (Rohrer) Price; brother Randy Owen Price; sister Donna Kay Unger, and half brother Dennis Wade.
A man deeply devoted to those he loved, Mike was always available when someone needed him. His presence brought comfort and strength to family and friends alike.
May Michael Lee “Mike” Price Sr.’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with dedication, kindness, and heart.
