Margaret Rebecca Fishack, 79, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.
Born Friday, July 3, 1942, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles Welty Hershberger and Helen Matalene (Kipe) Cooper.
She was a graduate of Smithsburg High School Class of 1960.
Margaret was a lifetime member of the Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Company and the Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Chapter 89 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Smithsburg.
She was employed by Doubleday Bookbinding and Printing Company, The Washington County Commision on Aging (27 years), and Stonecroft Apartments as a Social Services Coordinator.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 60 years, Glenn Dale Fishack, Sr, whom she married June 30, 1961, son Dale Fishack and wife Paige, daughter Rebecca Fishack, grandsons, Chandler Fishack, and Logan Fishack. She is also survived by Danny Ausherman whom she considered a grandson; goddaughters Joanie Cooper-Gerber and Tammy Bradburn Duffey; and Granddog, Maxwell.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her stepmother, Vivian A. (Creager) Hershberger; and her aunt and uncle who raised her, Marshall and Alice (Hershberger) Stottlemyer.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Washington County and the staff at Doey’s House for the care that was given to Margaret and the family.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 11:00am at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Mary Ricketts and Pastor Julie Brigham officiating. Burial will be in the Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doey’s House. Online condolences may be offered at www.jldavisfhcom.
