Martha Lee Polly Shifflett

Martha Lee (Polly) Shifflett, 88, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away on February 21, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown MD.

She was the wife of Leardie (Larry) Shifflett, whom she married in 1963.

She resided at Quincy Retirement Village, Quincy, PA.

Born, September 17, 1935, in Security, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edward L. and Martha L. (Grim) Ridenour.

In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Ellis, Charles, and William Ridenhour, and one sister, Helen Rice.

She was an active member of Blue Rock U.B. Church and the Quincy Home Auxiliary.

She, also, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Martha was a Past President of the Hagerstown Business and Professional Women's Club and was active in many organizations during her working years.

Martha retired from Verizon (formerly Bell Atlantic Telephone Co.) in 1985 after 32 years of service.

She enjoyed music, reading, travel, and volunteer work.

Service to be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the Blue Rock Church, 7885 Mentzer Gap Rd, Waynesboro, PA 17268, officiated by pastor Greg Helman. Family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Quincy Home Benevolence Fund or to Blue Rock Church.
