Mary Edna (Kreitz) Miller, 82, of Thurmont, MD passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026 after a lengthy illness with her family by her side. Mary was a wonderful mother to her children and a loving wife to her husband.
Born on November 19, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Lewis E. Kreitz, Sr. and Luella Kreitz.
Mary was a 1961 graduate of Thurmont High School and was employed at Cozy Restaurant for many years. She retired from State Farm Insurance cafeteria after 30 years of dedicated service.
She married James Edward Miller, Sr. on July 17, 1963, and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Mary was an avid baker and famous for her red velvet cake. She was a lifelong fan of the band Alabama.
Mary is survived by her husband, James Edward Miller, Sr.; Sons, James Edward Miller, Jr. (Collee) and Jeffrey Alan Miller (Kari); Daughter, Jacquelin Marie Cullison (Bill); Grandchildren, Ashley Renee Leinaweaver (Hunter) and Leo Douglas Yingling, III (Jen); Great Grandsons, Ryan Matthew, Joseph Miller and Owen Douglas Yingling.
She is also survived by her Sister, Becky Kreitz; and Brothers, Lewis E. Kreitz, Jr. (Pat) and Michael Kreitz (Chris). She will also be remembered fondly by special friends, Marie (Buttons) Messner, Judy Summerlin, and Kris Francella, and special Niece, Michelle Hewitt and her husband, Scott; along with many Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her Son, Joseph Michael Miller and Brothers, Jim and David Kreitz.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all our family and friends for their love, prayers, and support. She was indeed an angel on Earth!
A celebration of Mary's life will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 12 PM at the Emmitsburg Ambulance Building, 17701 Creamery Rd. Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
