Mary Mae (Wolf) Lewis

Mary Mae Lewis, 90, of Pleasant Valley (Smithsburg), MD, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born July 25, 1929 in Pleasant Valley (Smithsburg), she was the daughter of the late Ira Leon Wolf and Nellie Lenora (Wolfe) Wolf. She was a graduate of Middletown High School class of 1947. She was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, Foxville, MD. She was a homemaker, a wonderful wife and mother and a great cook. She also helped her husband Melvin with Lewis Brother’s Contractors by being the bookkeeper and taking care of the secretarial parts of the business. Mary is survived by her husband of 70 years, W. Melvin Lewis whom she married November 9, 1949, three daughters, Susan Kaika and husband Walter, Tammy Jesse and husband Donald, and Amy Sachs and fiancé Samuel Sandeen, five grandchildren, Valerie Kerr, Lindsey Kaika, Ashlee Long, Jesse Stottlemyer, and Molly Sachs, one brother, John Wolfe, one sister, Jane Grossnickle, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Lewis, three brothers, Kenneth Wolf, Nevin Wolfe, and Robert Wolfe, four sisters, Audrey Ingram, Bernice Sease, Ruth Ingram, and Evelyn Hessong, and twin grandsons. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 10:30am at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Foxville, MD, with Pastor Ronald Kurtz officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-9pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, for a restricted viewing. Mask must be worn.
