Obituary

Maxine Elizabeth Shoop, 95, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully Monday, November 7, 2022, at Creekside Center. 

Born Monday, April 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Clarence M. Kershner and Martha Ausherman of Hagerstown, MD.

She was a lifetime member of the Beaver Creek Christian Church.

Maxine was a homemaker who loved to sing in the church choir, enjoyed sewing, and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by her daughters, Martha J. Hetzer, and Linda Newton (Ed), sons, Ronald Shoop (Kelly), Michael Shoop (Lori), David Shoop (Jodi), 10 grandchildren, loved by numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert L. Shoop, Sr., son, Robert L. Shoop, Jr., sisters, Julia Detrow, Rosa Kershner, Fanny Moats, Hazel Whittington, and brothers, Lloyd and Edgar Kershner.

Family will receive friends on Monday, November 14, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 10:00 am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, with graveside to follow at Beaver Creek Cemetery of Hagerstown, MD.

Donations can be made to Beaver Creek Christian Church of Hagerstown, MD.
