Nancy Jean (Glenn) Barkdoll, 91, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday June 25th, 2024, at The Leland of Laurel Run, Waynesboro, PA, surrounded by loving family.
Born on November 29th, 1932, in Smithsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Nina P. (Brown) and Herman C. Glenn where she grew up on a "Popcorn" farm during the depression.
While raising a family in Sabilliasville MD with her husband Sam, Nancy’s occupation was driving a school bus for WCPS for several years then drove for the Hagerstown County Commuter until retiring in 1978.
She will always be remembered for some staple recipes that was a must have at family functions. The biggest request was her mint tea. Aside from her crossword puzzles and word searches, she loved knitting, crocheting and sewing. Whether it was making fancy-frilly dresses for her granddaughters when they were little or crocheting the most beautiful, patterned blankets for friends and family, she was always busy.
Nancy was a past member of Garfield UMC in Smithsburg MD, and was recently attending Jedidiah Ministries Church in Waynesboro, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Samuel L. Barkdoll; Son, Samuel G. Barkdoll; Grandson, Shane Barkdoll; Sister, Rethabelle (Snook) Munson; and Brothers: Bill and Charles (Butch) Glenn.
She is survived by her Sons, Warren Dean Barkdoll, and wife, Marla of Mineral, VA; and Timothy Shawn Barkdoll, and wife, Lisa, of Smithsburg, MD; sisters, Betty Betty Delauter, Peggy Upton (John), and Donna Kauffman; Grandchildren, Kelley Russell (Khris), Deanna Russell (Tim), Crystal Mellot (Corey), Amber Taylor (Brian), Travis Barkdoll (Jamie), Staci Barkdoll, Kaleb Barkdoll (Jessica); Numerous Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews; Daughter in law, Kathi Barkdoll.
Family will receive friends Friday, July 5th, from 6-8 PM at J.L Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg, MD 21783.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at 10 AM at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, MD 21783 with Pastor Brian Black officiating. Interment will follow at Garfield UMC Cemetery, 13628 Stottlemyer Rd. Smithsburg, MD.
