Pearl Weaver Obituary

Pearl Laureda Weaver, 96, of Poplar Grove Road, Hagerstown Maryland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 18, 2021. Born June 6, 1925, near Ellerton, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Alice V. Stottlemyer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Roy Hoover Weaver. Pearl was a graduate of Smithburg High School, Class of 1944, where she received awards for home economics and was involved in the 4-H club. She graduated from Columbia Business College, Class of 1947. Pearl worked as an accountant at Goodwill Industries for a number of years. She then worked at the Washington County Hospital until she retired in 1992. She was a member of the Welty Church of the Brethren and the Sunshine Leisure Club of Smithsburg, Maryland. Pearl was an old-fashioned farm girl in every way. She had many interests, including gardening, tending to her flowers, cooking, baking, canning, flower arranging, and sewing. She also loved to play the dice game Squelch. She is survived by son Larry E. Slayman and wife Esther; son Craig S. Weaver and wife Debbie; grandchildren Sean C. Weaver; Jared M. Weaver and wife Jennifer; Tamara; Sherry; Nicole; Adam; Gabrielle; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Kazmer and Mary Weaver; one brother, Paul Stottlemyer. Services will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 2:00pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with pastor Michael Kenney and Pastor Brad Nigh officiating. Burial will be in Grossnickle Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myersville, MD.
