Phillip Millison Obituary

Phillip Arthur Millison, 60, of Sabillasville, MD, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 2, 1964 (the real Independence Day) in Riverdale, MD to Phillip DeWayne Millison (deceased) and Phyllis Ann Millison.

Phillip grew up in Mountaindale, working alongside his father and learning everything there was to know about rebuilding transmissions. He cherished his time and the friends he made while there. Phillip continued throughout his life making new friends in every town he lived in, but never leaving the state of Maryland. “Maryland my Maryland” he would always say.

One of Phillip’s greatest achievements is owning and operating P&M Transmissions located in Sabillasville, MD. He had a passion for rebuilding transmissions and supporting his local community.

Phillip was a kind, compassionate, and loving man. If you knew him you loved him, and if you never met him, you still loved him based on the stories you heard about him. Phillip lived his life to the fullest, and enjoyed spending his time at the Gettysburg Battlefields, driving his boat, and being with his family.

Phillip married his best friend in 2001. During their 23 years of marriage, he truly made Penny feel that she was the most special person in the world, and the love he had for her was endless and unwavering. They shared many laughs, and truly spent every moment together, making memories that she will cherish forever. Throughout their journey, they welcomed many grandchildren into their life: Maddy, Mason, Becca, Wyatt, and Waylon Phillip.

Phillip is survived by his Wife and Best Friend, Penny Millison; Children: Garrett Millison (Hannah), Megan Milbourne (Zack), Nicholas Whetzel, and Christopher Whetzel; Loving Brothers: Troy Millison (Val) and David Millison (Mira); Special Friend: Mike Hanvey (his “oldest”), and many nieces and nephews.

Phillip was predeceased by his father Phillip DeWayne Millison, and Siblings: Nelson Millison, Connie Silver, and Keith Millison.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life, which will be held on Saturday, August 24 at 4pm, at his home residence located at 17601E Sunshine Trail, Sabillasville, MD 21780. We invite all those wishing to attend to bring a chair, and a dish to share. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, as St. Jude’s has always had a special place in his heart.
