ROBERT ALLEN CUNNINGHAM

Robert Allen Cunningham, 70, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on April 11, 2023, after a brave and long battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was a righteous family man who loved watching his girls grow, mature, and excel in academics, art, athletics, and life; he also enjoyed the beach, the outdoors, his dogs, and everything surrounding his automobiles and bikes. He passed away in peace shortly after his 70th birthday with his loving family surrounding him. Robert is now rejoicing with his Creator for all eternity!

One of his greatest pastimes included reminiscing with his childhood friends from Cabin John Maryland, as well as making new memories with his friends he has made since moving to the area. As a member of Paramount Baptist Church, he was a true believer in his Creator and knew exactly where he would be going after this world, and he wished the same for all.

Robert served his country proudly in the Army during the Vietnam era, working in communications and spending some time overseas in South Korea. Following his honorable discharge, he spent over 30 years working for Verizon, which he then retired and went on to spend several years working at Wegmans and Customizers.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh, and Hazel. He leaves behind his wife, Elaine, with over 29 wonderful years of memories, his two beautiful daughters through love, Grace Jiang, and Noelle Jin, as well as his beloved older brother, William James.

His service will be held at Paramount Baptist Church at 11:00 am EST on June 17, 2023, to celebrate the gift of his life. Due to his military service, interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
