Roy Working, of Pen Mar, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, October 6th at Fahney Keedy Nursing Home after a 13-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Roy was born on August 29, 1939, to Gurnon and Rhoda Working of Friends Creek, Maryland. Roy was the oldest of 7 children.
Roy made a career at Potomac Edison Power Company for 37 years where he retired at the age of 58. He loved his job and looked forward to every day there. He started as a Meter Reader and worked his way up to become an A Class Engineer.
Roy met his wife, Nancy, and was married on July 2, 1967, and have been happily married for the last 57 years. They went on to have two boys, Matthew and Randy, at their home in Pen Mar, Maryland. They were later blessed with two daughter-in-laws, Carrie and Terri, along with four grandchildren, Garrett, Emily, Zachary and Collin.
Before Parkinson’s, Roy loved hunting and fishing. He liked taking many trips to Chincoteague, where he loved fishing and also catching and eating crabs. He also supported Nancy with her taxidermy business for over 17 years, where he helped with large projects and finances.
Roy was a great husband and father. He was a loving husband who doted on Nancy. He loved his boys and guided them into the men that they have become.
Services will be held on Friday, October 11th at Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg, MD. The family will receive family and friends from 3 to 5pm, and a Celebration of Life ceremony will be from 5 to 6pm. We invite friends and family to join us after the ceremony for food and refreshments.
