Rachel Jean (Showe) "Jeanie" Koontz

Rachel Jean (Showe) “Jeanie” Koontz, 83, of Greencastle, PA, was granted her angel wings at Meritus Medical Center of Hagerstown, MD, on May 28, 2021. Born July 2, 1937, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Claude E. Showe, Sr. and Ida Mae (Daley) Showe. She was a seamstress at Blue Bell Wrangler Plant in Mt. Jackson, VA, where she had many friends. Jeanie enjoyed shopping, trips to the lake, trips to the beach, but most of all spending time with her family and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and “Maw” with unconditional love. She is survived by two daughters, Tammy J. Fadely of Magnolia, DE, and Sherree K. Koontz of Woodstock, VA, two sons, Richard L. “Rick” Koontz, Jr. (Michelle) of Mt. Jackson, VA, and Tony W. Koontz (Sharon) of Greencastle, PA, two sisters, Shirley and Beverly, Three brothers, Mickie, Gary and Richard, nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. “Dick” Koontz, Sr., father-in-law, James “Jim” Koontz, mother-in-law, Gladys Koontz, one brother, Claude E. Showe, Jr., and one sister, Debbie Showe. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 2:00pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Chaplain Eileen Flenner officiating. The family will be available immediately after the service to fellowship and share memories.
