Retta June (Brown) Aleshin

Retta June Aleshin, 87, passed peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in West Chester OH. Retta was born in Weston WV on June 24, 1938, daughter of the late Edward Brown and Emma (Flint) Brown.

In her younger years, June was an aspiring athlete, getting varsity awards for Volleyball, Basketball, and Field Hockey. She also loved singing, being a member of a number of quartets. She sang in Sweet Adeline (Sing United) competitions for several years and also loved to sing with her husband, Gene.

After having children, June went back to school to be a Montessori school teacher. She taught Montessori for a number of years in Chicago as well as the Cincinnati area. June was loved by her many students.

June was a loving wife of 64 years until her husband’s death. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family very much and was loved by all.

June is survived by her sons Greg Aleshin (Valarie), Steve Aleshin (Cindy), grandchildren Jennifer, Nicholas, and Aleah, and great grandchildren Lina, Paisley, and Ingrid. June was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Aleshin, son Christopher Aleshin and grandchild Stephen Christopher Aleshin.

Visitation will be at Saint Catherine’s Orthodox Church in Hagerstown, MD on Friday May 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral service. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Fredrick, MD.
