It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our father, Richard (Dick) Allen Barlup Sr., 90, who passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
Born February 26, 1936, near Leitersburg, MD, he was the son of the late Frank Donald and Eva Marguerite Miller Barlup. Dick grew up working on the family farm where he was born and eventually passed away. He dedicated 38 years as a welder at Landis Solutions, LLC, before retiring in 1999. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and crabbing in Chincoteague, and cherished taking his family on trips in their camper.
He was a member of St. Peter’s "Beards" Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the South Mountain Rod & Gun Club, and a former member of the Owl's Club, Inc. in Waynesboro, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Constance G. Bailey (Barlup) Bell, the mother of his three children, and his sister, Virginia Lee Woods.
He is survived by his children: Julie Fitz and her husband Donovan of Myrtle Beach, SC; Richard Jr. and his wife Jane of Hagerstown; Shari Metzger and her husband Rick of Smithsburg. He was also the father of Tina Hudson and her husband Adam of Greencastle, PA.
