Richard L. “Dick” Middlekauff, 79, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C. Born October 17, 1940 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Emily Middlekauff. He attended North Hagerstown High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Dick was a member of the Funkstown American Legion Post 211. He was owner and operator of Middlekauff Upholstery. Dick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Lou (Saunders) Haines-Middlekauff whom he married June 19, 1980, son, Bryan Middlekauff, daughter, Barbie Middlekauff, grandson Bryan, granddaughters Jasman and Merissa, two great grandsons, stepchildren, Karl Haines, Karen Grimes, Linda Wallech, Deborah Jones and Melissa, twenty-one step grandchildren, twenty-six step great grandchildren, brother, Ed Middlekauff and wife Patricia and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two step sons, Neal Eugene Haines and Patrick Haines, sisters, Mary, Shirley and Doris, brother, Glen and one step granddaughter. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 2:00pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Julie Brigham officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at 120 W. Antietam St. Hagerstown, MD, 21740 or www.cancer.org.
