Roger Douglas Obituary

Roger Paul Douglas, 72, of Hagerstown, MD passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at his home, surrounded by loving family.

 

Born on January 13, 1952, in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late Betty J. (Shadrack) and John Douglas.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Granddaughter, Zoe Manuel.

 

Roger graduated from Thomas Johnson High School, class of 1971.

 

Roger was a Master Plumber, having owned and operated Douglas Plumbing. He also was a plumber in the maintenance department for the Washington County BOE until his retirement after 15 years of service.

 

Roger was a member and Past Master of Friendship Lodge #84 AF & AM. He was also a member of Ali Ghan Shrine in Cumberland, MD and also drove the children to Shriner's Hospitals. In the Shrine, he was active in the Sayara Unit, which drove the miniature classic cars in the parades. Roger was also a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Hagerstown Forrest #95, and he was a 32 degree mason in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Cumberland.

 

In addition to staying active in various organizations, Roger enjoyed attending classic car shows, and showed his 1964 Plymouth Barracuda.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara (Kauffman) Douglas; Daughter, Rachel Sherman and husband, Timothy of Berkeley Springs, WV; Grandson, Joshua Stine; Sisters, Marlin Delauter, Connie Tipton (John) and Theresa Kline; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

 

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
