Roger James "Grassy" Gray, Jr.

Mr. Roger “Grassy” Gray, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 18th, 2022, at Martinsburg Veterans Hospital. He was the husband of Anita “Carol” (Brown) Gray. Born March 27th, 1935, in Frederick County, MD. He was a son of Roger James, Sr, and Cathy (Carty) Gray of Thurmont (Blue Mountain). Mr. Gray was an honorably discharged veteran of the US Airforce, serving from 1953-1957. He had a passion for competing in pool competitions and he won many championships. He enjoyed traveling, family, and spending time with his beloved wife. He was a proud member of the Thurmont American Legion and the AMVETS. He was also a lifelong resident of Thurmont, MD. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 children, daughter, Patti Wantz and her fiancé Joey Lee of Thurmont and a son, Michael Gray and his wife Dawne of Nashville, TN, grandsons, Michael and Nick Wantz, Dylan Gray, Ryan Coblentz and granddaughters, Jamie, Kelly and Jenna Coblentz and many Great Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, daughter, Susan “Kim” Coblentz, infant son, Roger James Gray, III, son-in-law Mike Wantz, grandson, Josh Wantz and, Terry Coblentz, granddaughters Courtney and Chrissy Coblentz. He will be fondly remembered by many friends. A private graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sep 22, 2022, in the Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the funeral home towards his services. Arrangements were made by J.L.
