Ronald Lee Boyd Sr, 75, of Smithsburg, passed away on Friday, September 15, at Meritus Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Washington County on June 16, 1948, he was the son of the late Homer Lewis Boyd, and Geraldine (Minnick) Boyd.
Ronnie was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. He retired from Martin Marietta Stone Quarry in Boonsboro, after 40 years as a welder. Ronnie shared his love of fishing, and hunting, and drag racing with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie J (Monn) Boyd, daughter Tammy Roberts and husband Randy, sons Ronnie Boyd Jr., Paul Boyd and wife Tiffany, Roy Boyd and girlfriend Jessica Montgomery, and Jeff Boyd, grandchildren Jacob Wade, Michelle Wallace and husband John, Rachael Roberts and friend Joshua, Jarrett Boyd, Abigail Harold and Madison Boyd, great grandchildren Alicia Hanna, Brixen Lynn, and Lucas Hanna, sisters Shirley Ernde and husband Charles, Ruthie Smith and husband Robert (R.J.), Nancy Michael and husband Roger (Gene), Debbie Slick and husband Robert (Bobby), and brother Gary Boyd and wife Lillian.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Shelva Kline, and his grandson, Joshua Wallace.
Ronnie spent most of his childhood years with maternal grandparents, the late Carlton and Lydia Minnick.
The family would like to thank the Meritus Medical Center emergency room staff for their care and compassion during Ronnie's final hours.
The family will receive friends at J. L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Avenue, Smithsburg, MD on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m.
