Sylvester Jay Palmer, Sr., 96, of Smithsburg, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Doey’s House.
Born on May 10, 1926, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Ethel Rebecca (Rowe) and Sylvester Josephus Palmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Mr. Palmer was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Palmer worked in construction, was a groundskeeper at HCC and grew flowers and vegetables to sell on Mapleville Rd.
He is survived by his son, Sylvester Jay Palmer, Jr.; daughter, Sharon Munson and husband Lynn; 3 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren, and many cousins.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank all of Mr. Palmer’s neighbors and friends on Mapleville Rd. who looked after him in his declining years.
