Terry Lee Fisher, 71, of Thurmont, MD passed away on February 20, 2025, at 9:02 PM. Born on October 30, 1953, to Julia Catherine (Mellott) Kline and Ralph Fisher, Terry was lovingly raised by maternal grandmother, Fannie Catherine (Green) Hays, and husband, Clay Roman Hays. A 1971 graduate of Catoctin High School, Terry spent a number of years working at Fairchild, but his true passion was buying and selling antiques.
Terry’s heart filled with a love for Jesus as he devoted much time to memorizing and applying scripture to his personal life. He was also a devoted member of Mt. Bethel UMC for many years. While a rugged outdoorsman who was proud of his familial mountain roots, Terry was best known for his patience, wisdom, humor, thoughtfulness, generosity, and love for animals. His vast knowledge of a variety of colorful subjects will be dearly missed.
Terry is survived by his best friend and great-nephew, Jax Robert Benson, with whom he prioritized daily phone calls. In addition, Terry is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Cristy Kline. He leaves behind his other brother, Johnny Fisher, along with his sister and brother-in-law, Julie and David Barnhart. He also leaves behind 16 nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews, and a few good friends and neighbors.
Terry was proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents. In addition, Terry was proceeded in death by three of his sisters and two brother-in-laws: Vicky and Dave Wetzel, Robin and Rick Scott, and Shelly Kline.
A graveside service will be held at Mt. Bethel UMC by J. L. Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg, MD on Friday, February 28 at 11:00 with Pastor Al Deal officiating. All are welcomed and encouraged to join the family.
