Virgil A. Harne, 92, of Wolfsville, MD, passed away peacefully Monday, February 17, 2025, at Homewood of Williamsport, surrounded by loving family.
Born on October 16, 1932, in Garfield, MD, he was the son of the late Mollie Margaret (Lewis) and Ernest Ray Harne.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first Wife, Sylvia Dolores (Miller) Harne; Brother, Rudolph Harne and Sister, Martha Susan.
Virgil served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran.
Virgil retired after over 30 years as an electrician with Frederick County Public Schools.
Virgil was a lifetime member of Garfield UMC, Smithsburg, MD. He was also a member of Boonsboro American Legion, Post 10, Wolfsville Ruritan, Myersville Fire Co. 8, Woodmen of the World, Fairplay, MD, and Redmen Tribe #84, Williamsport, MD.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret E. (Turner / Frushour) Harne; Children, Linda M. Miss and husband, William, of Jefferson, MD; Larry R. Harne and wife, Deborah, of Smithsburg, MD; Step-Children, Paul E. Frushour and wife, Bonnie of Middletown, MD and Douglas A. Frushour and wife, Lisa, of Myersville, MD; Grandchildren, Zachary W. Miss and Brian W. Harne (Jennifer); Great Grandchildren, TJ, Aubree, Abigail, Ryder and Graham; Sister, Esther Weagley; Brother, Wayne Harne (Debbie); and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday, February 24, 2025, at 2 PM at Garfield United Methodist Church, 13628 Stottlemyer Rd. Smithsburg, MD 21783 with Pastor Al Deal and Randy Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Garfield UMC Cemetery, Smithsburg, MD.
Family will receive friends one hour prior at the church.
